Recent bad behaviour in the online equivalent of La-La Land has spurred Hunter Crowell into writing this article:
http://www.wow-...ues-in-wow.html
The clue that there are opposing sides is in the title of the game, but Hunter apparently missed this, and penned an article suggesting that the Scottish are from Ireland, the Trolls are Jamaican slaves and that if you don't hate Native Americans already, WoW will MAKE you hate them. Even if you are one.
How insightful. Perhaps Hunter is taking WoW a little too seriously.
Anyone who ends up getting confused between Jamaicans and trolls in a computer game must have started with some pretty major issues. He must also be unaware that many of the generic species in fantasy stories, such as trolls, dwarves and elves are taken from the mythology of the British Isles and Scandanavia.
Banning WOW because a handful of players read too much into the accents of the characters would be the equivalent of banning the sport of fishing on the grounds that there is always one idiot who doesn't realise that those "No Fishing" signs near overhead power cables are there for a reason.
It all seems rather absurd since any accent they were to put on ANY of their characters would have to have some basis from a civilisation somewhere on our planet.
Perhaps they could ake them speak in clicks or beeps instead and that would make the game less "racist"?
Aren't the Asgard supposedly technologically superior?
Then, presumably, we would be prejudiced against crickets.
Think of the poor voice actors
Those little cricket fuckers had it coming...
Aren't the Asgard supposedly technologically superior?
Think of the poor voice actors.
Why start now?
