Creedence Clearwater Revival. | December 22, 2005 at 03:11 PM

I think it's mainly the film reviews. They either come off as trying to sound like Roger fucking Ebert or as being dim. Still, Amazon is a good suggestion. Bah.

Creedence Clearwater Revival. | December 22, 2005 at 01:20 PM

I fucking hate Amazon customer reviews. For some reason they get right up my nose.

High Hunt | December 22, 2005 at 12:16 AM

I read the Belgariad and the Malloreon. That's ten fucking books, Eddings. To say that the second five were just the first five recycled would be harsh...but true.
The Elenium and the Tamuli...same thing again, the bastard.

Eddings seems to be totally unable to leave it alone. He knocks out a good story. Ok. But then he always does it over again, in a second series of books, which mirror the first. loke must be desparate for money or something.

But I left all his fantasy shite behind, and concentrated on the one good book he's written. Anyone else read it, or am I shouting down the dark by myself here?

Alcoholism | December 22, 2005 at 12:08 AM

Why, when drunk, does it seem like a good, nay, great idea to have another drink? All but unthinkable not to, in fact.

There's that little voice (probably what remains of your self-respect after buying and eating that kebab) going "Jesus, I'm so pissed!" and the rest of you is that glass-eyed staggering buffoon, trying to pay lip service to balance and equilibrium and common sense.

Or perhaps it's just me?

Creedence Clearwater Revival. | December 21, 2005 at 11:59 PM

Having just watched The Big Lebowski ("Run through The Jungle") and An American Werewolf In London ("Bad Moon Rising") I really like the tunes and so fancy picking up a CD by this band. Anyone know a good place to start? Their best album, or a particularly fine Best Of, perhaps?

Where's The Logic? | December 21, 2005 at 11:46 PM

Possibly. I wouldn't know, having never been launched through a windscreen.

Ah Stalin You Maniac | December 21, 2005 at 11:39 PM

We're not dictators yet, though.

Where's The Logic? | December 21, 2005 at 11:36 PM

About not wearing one, yes. Not about them costing more lives than they save.

Where's The Logic? | December 21, 2005 at 06:40 PM

I won't even wear a seatbelt in a car anyway. Those things cost more lives than they save.

Though it's the same deal on buses, too. No seatbelts, and bus drivers are all fucking speed freaks.

Ah Stalin You Maniac | December 21, 2005 at 03:53 PM

That's the thing, though. It wasn't war, just Stalin getting rid of undesirables, in some cases nothing more than people who had met Westerners, because they were capitalists. Pretty crazy stuff. Not to mention the periodic purges for 'traitors'.

Ah Stalin You Maniac | December 21, 2005 at 03:42 PM

Well, in terms of percentages, yup. In terms of sheer numbers, the 20th century is king.

Ah Stalin You Maniac | December 21, 2005 at 03:02 PM

I think Pol Pot and Mao are both in the running, though.

Ah Stalin You Maniac | December 21, 2005 at 02:15 PM

Well, Hitler was pretty much responsible for WWII, he kicked off the whole thing, but Stalin killed off something like 20 million Russians. Not personally, though. Wimp.

Perfectly believable story too, worse happened under the Nazis in Germany. Brings a whole new meaning to 'guerrilla forces' though.

Ghost Rider The Movie | December 21, 2005 at 09:08 AM

He's been pretty good in a few films, but most of them have been fairly poor performances.

Roger Eberts Top 10 Of 2005 | December 21, 2005 at 12:43 AM

One day that man will disappear totally up his own arse.

Hopefully.
