I suppose it depends on the fact that special effects have become a lot better.

The Thing remake had incredible effects for the time and made the film, if it had have been a remake of the original it would have blown it away.

In the case of War of the Worlds - again, the effects were great but as a movie it wasn't fit to clean the boots of the original.

The Haunting - the original scared the life out of me but that pile of Hollywood detritus that 'Everyfilm' Nielson was in was pure pap.

I don't know, I guess I'm biased - if you look at garbage like Pink Panther and Fun with Dick and Jane, I came out of the cinema feeling my humour had been raped and I felt unclean. It's left me with a morbid fear of remakes.

I would have to say that I haven't yet seen a good remake and I guess that these days I'm reluctant to spend good cash trying them out.

The Fly? yeah okay it's a lot better than the original but then Goldbloom has fly genes - he seems to play a fly in everything he does.

You can arse about with snakes and lizards but piss a fish off and you are dead meat. You can't run away underwater.

To a certain degree I can understand it. Here in Lincolnshire where there is a low population we are being flooded with people from Kent - because the house prices are so low.
This means the house prices go up and young local people can't afford the live here.

Not only that, houses bought for holiday homes kill small villages.

I think probably humour translates the worst - a good friend of mine is Dutch, she speaks excellent English and when she is back home she sits laughing at movies whilst everyone in her family reads the subtitles wondering what she finds so funny.

The game is excellent chaps, a bit odd to start with but I played it most of last night - quite addictive. Yeah, the accents and the comments are a bit tongue in cheek but I love the way the grass and the flowers move as troops walk past them.

I seem to remember Hidden & Dangerous was like that, though I only played the first two and not to the conclusion due to a million bugs.

I'm with FA - if it's WWII then it should be correct, there is no need to mix the two.

Remakes get on my tits and I'll be honest, after the shower of shit known as The Pink Panther I don't think that this wicker remake can make me vomit as much.
